Images by Dr Peter Lewis, MA, LRPS

The images in Gallery one were originally created as a project for an M.A. in Visual Communication. They are based on seven series of random numbers which determine the size of each circle, its distance from the centre, rotation around the centre, colour, and the number of circles in each image. The chance of any two images being the same is of the order of 1 in 140 million and are an attempt to visualise chance which is a major determinant in our lives whether it be in relation to our genetic make up or who we happen to meet in the pub.
Although it might seem that there is no obvious connection between representational photography all such images are a representation of a fragment of time and as such as dependent upon chance effects on the conditions at the time of exposure and the artists mind at the time of finalising the image.
